Summary: Reports directly to and works under the supervision of the Plant Manager. The Materials Manager is responsible for the development and implementation of effective, facility-wide programs to optimize material flow and delivery to the shop floor for production including planning, & scheduling, procurement, inventory management, logistics, and transactions.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Responsible and accountable for fostering and leading a safety culture that emulates their values and achieves established safety performance metrics set at corporate and plant levels. Recognizes safety accomplishments and hold team members accountable for safety incidents

Supervises Planning, Scheduling, Procurement, Warehouse Management and Shipping & Receiving

Provide leadership in selecting, developing, and evaluating personnel to ensure the efficient operation of materials functions and operating goals and objectives.

Manage suppliers, materials, and inventory in a manner consistent with the requirements of a lean manufacturing environment.

Maintains Inventory Turns according to company standards

Audits procurement processes to ensure compliance and system accuracy

Works closely with Category Management teams, Quality, and Director of Supply Chain to ensure continuous improvement in material cost, quality, and delivery

Ensures all department activities are routinely reviewed for compliance with SOX and separation of duties

Responsible for overseeing the inventory cycle count process

Ensures materials transfers are processed correctly

Audits procurement processes to ensure compliance & accuracy

Communicates known shortages to impacted departments and focuses on support

Ensures data in MRP systems is regularly updated and accurate

Routinely evaluates and manages priorities of the department to mitigate lost production time due to material availability

Communicates and troubleshoots with both external and internal customers regarding material needs

Responsible and accountable for plant materials inventory variances

Responsible for ensuring on-time deliveries

Responsible for reporting of Key Performance Indicators related to the materials management function inclusive of root cause / corrective action for areas needing improvements

Works on special projects as directed

Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or finance field preferred

Masters preferred

Experience

7 years in a manufacturing setting

5 years of experienced related to inventory management and production planning

Expertise in strategic procurement, strategy deployment, with sound knowledge and understanding of the other business functions
