Qualifications/Duties: Texas Health Physicians Group is seeking to hire a full-time Athletic Trainer. The position will office at Fort Worth Orthopedics. Qualifications: Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree Kinesiology, Sports Medicine or related field, required Minimum Experience: 6 Months Team sports or related experience, preferred Minimum Certification/Licensure: LAT - Licensed Athletic Trainer Licensed by State of Texas, required National Athletic Trainer Association (NATA) Board of Certification (BOC),and/or OTC preferred Minimum Skills: Knowledge of DME and application of Splinting and casting. Ability to effectively communicate to staff and patients. Demonstrates sound judgment and composure with the ability to take appropriate action in questionable or emergency situations. Maintains a positive, caring attitude towards patients. Good computer skills using a medical management application. Possesses a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism. Work Hours/Schedule: Full Time (40 Hrs/Wk), 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Work Location: Fort Worth Orthopedics 6301 Harris Parkway, Suite 200 Fort Worth, TX 76132 Essential Job Duties: Assists with patient's rehabilitation activities to maximize physical fitness or treat or prevent injury. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Assists with intake of patients including medical history, initial testing, and any other intake requirements relating to office visit. Communicates results of testing to physician. Collaborates with physicians, physical therapists and other applicable providers to evaluate the patient s physical condition and advise and treat athletes to maintain maximum physical fitness or to treat or prevent injury for participation in athletic competition. May prescribe routine and corrective exercises as need. Assists in the treatment and/or prevention of injuries by treating chronic or minor injuries and related disabilities to maintain athletes' performance. Provides discharge instructions and release paperwork, instructions for home and ongoing care, schedules follow-up visits, and makes referrals to other healthcare providers as prescribed by physician or physician s assistant. Follows-up with patients and ensures ongoing communication with patients, school personnel, etc. as required. May assist with facilitating communication sessions as needed. Assists with brace fittings. Provide and assist in a seamless movement through the surgical continuum of care, through each step of the process and guides patients and their families by offering emotional, case management and educational support. Advocate for the Orthopedic patient and guide them through the healthcare system pre-operatively through post-operatively. Assist patients and their families with every aspect of care from assisting the patient with last minute questions before and after the day of surgery. Develops, implements and evaluates clinical practice guidelines/care paths for the patient. Coordinates patient care across all settings with all healthcare providers. Welcomes calls from patients and families answering questions concerning care and provides education information and resources to the patients. Participates in special projects or completes other duties as assigned.
