Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry:leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings : carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical:based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical:based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of Position:
Develop and lead quality improvement activities for active electronic component Products, Processes and Manufacturing methods across multiple product lines using contract manufacturers. Develop, monitor and improve quality metrics throughout new product introduction and during production for active electronic and optical systems. Interface with suppliers and customers for effective tracking and resolution of issues. Drive root cause analysis and recommend preventive and corrective measures with a quality metrics oriented approach.
Major Roles and Responsibilities:
:Interface with internal and external manufacturing to monitor, assess and improve quality metrics.
:Function as the quality liaison for various high technology product lines between Development, Engineering and Manufacturing.
:Lead corrective action and preventative action (CAPA) working teams
:Initiate and participate in quality improvement programs such as DFM, FMEA, Lean and Six Sigma.
:Analyze Product Structure, Product Data and manufacturing transfer readiness. Initiate and implement improvement actions for product and process quality improvements.
:Participate in Change Control initiatives as stakeholder in ECO, MCO and PCN process flows.
:Track Customer Notifications, Technical Issues and Field Returns and drive the root cause analysis efforts for effective closure of customer issues.
:Provide closed:loop feedback to customers on corrective and preventive actions with FMA/8D reports.
:Lead defect and repair reduction programs to drive down Cost of Quality (COQ) metrics. Conduct internal and external audits for improving performance and quality metrics.
:Conduct Statistical Analysis with Quality Tools for reporting key metrics.
Travel and location of work
:Up to 30 travel. Includes domestic and international travel.
:Role based out of the Corning, Keller, TX facility.
Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements
:Bachelor of Engineering Degree
:Minimum 5 years' experience in Telecom, Communications or Consumer Electronics Industry.
:Minimum 3 years' combined experience with electronics, PCBA (circuit boards), telecom or consumer electronics products in a product engineering quality engineering role.
:3 years' experience working with contract manufacturing companies
:Experience with customer facing functions such as sales support, customer support, and field deployment.
:Hands:on experience in developing Quality Systems, Processes and Procedures.
:Experience in Product Lifecycle Management and Product Data Management.
:Demonstrated capability in Quality Concepts, Quality Tools, Statistical Analysis and Metrics reporting.
:Effective communication, project facilitation, and CAPA skills.
:Flexibility to work in multinational matrix organization
